Guar­an­teed Steamer

When I read that Chris­t­ian Bale, Javier Bar­dem, Rachel McAdams and Olga Kurylenko had been casted in Ter­rence Malick’s lat­est romance, I wasn’t sure how to feel about it. As much as I like the actors, Malick’s last film, The New World, was a steam­ing turd.

That got me think­ing, what mat­ters more to me: the direc­tor or the cast?

In the case of Be Kind Rewind, I was excited about the direc­tor, Michel Gondry. Unfor­tu­nately the movie ended up being a steam­ing turd.

The last time I got excited over a cast was Pub­lic Ene­mies, star­ring Johnny Depp, Chris­t­ian Bale, and Mar­ion Cotil­lard. They should have called it Pub­lic Ene­mas, because it was a steam­ing turd.

I guess it’s best if the film has a great cast and a great direc­tor, which looks to be the case for Step Up 3-D.
