I was lucky enough to get into the sold out Little Boots show on wednesday, and I must say, she blew me away. I’ve listened to her album a ton and I had my doubts about her voice, which is very effect heavy, but to my surprise, she sounded better live than on record (they also bought a new synthesizer for the show). Since the album isn’t out in the states, she kept on telling the audience that they wouldn’t know the songs, but every time she started singing, we all sang along. It was a blast, probably the best dance party I’ve been to since Passion Pit (I’m seeing them again on friday with Phoenix!). A french band called Plastiscines, along with Yes Giantess, opened for Boots, they were both put on great shows.

Tonight I got to see swedish singer Lykke Li live in concert, and I have to say, she was better than I had expected. I’ve listened to her album a bunch of times and there aren’t that many great songs. I pretty much expected her to play the entire album and get kinda boring. Well, she did play her whole album (I mean 11/14 songs), but it didn’t get boring. The live element added a very different spin to all her familiar recordings, and I especially enjoyed the little bits they added here and there just to spice things up. She also did a few great covers. The first cover was a beautiful rendition of ‘Knocked Up’ by Kings of Leon, which I know Timmy would have loved. And the last cover (also her last song) sounded like Lou Reed, but ended up being A Tribe Called Quest. You know the song… if you don’t– SHAME ON YOU!!
